- BLURRING LINES -

The work of Artist Rebecca Smith utilises cross-boundary multimedia to produce creative environments, in which the audience and participants can safely explore their senses. Blurring the line between the physical and digital worlds, Rebecca embraces immersive technologies to stimulate and challenge the five senses, playfully enticing vision, auditory, tactile, olfaction and gustation. The most ordinary spaces can be transformed into captivating environments in which the audience can immerse themselves with new experiences.

 WE GO NOWHERE"

MIXED TECHNOLOGIES

Working with multiple technologies, interfaces and means of interaction, Rebecca remains on a constant path of development; finding new ways of incorporating creative use of digital technology into her work, and evolving her practice.  This leads her to collaborate and share working practice with others including; academics, industry practitioners and practicing artists, in the exchange and furtherment of knowledge.

HUMANISTIC TOUCH

Despite the complexity of technology, the interaction must remain the same - With a human.  Rebecca's work seeks to enhance and enlighten audience or user experience, and does not loose sight of this purpose.  Because of this methodology, much of her work collaborates with individuals who have alternative perceptions of the world, such as; Sight-loss, hearing impairment, learning disability, autism, PMLD or neurological condition.

FREEDOM

IS

A pop-up installation space for Frequency Multimedia Festival. The audience are invited to interact with hand painted illustrations which burst to life with projection, light and movement. Created through Arduino and conductive paint, the installation playfully questions our understanding and definition of freedom and liberation.
