WORK
Stylus is a live audio-visual performance by Urban Projections and Pete Barber, presented at Burn Yard Live in Budapest as part of the Hungarian Grand Prix. Set within an industrial space, the event brought together international street artists to work with reclaimed and discarded materials.
The performance unfolded over several hours, combining projection mapping with live painting. Animated visuals were projected directly onto evolving mural surfaces, allowing digital imagery to interact with paint, texture and form in real time. As the artworks developed, the projection adapted to their surfaces, creating a continuous exchange between physical and digital layers.
Rather than a fixed outcome, Stylus operated as a live process, with the work changing as both projection and painting responded to one another. This approach emphasised transformation, with materials, surfaces and imagery continually reworked throughout the performance.
Presented within a wider programme of live making, the piece sat alongside contributions from a range of artists, forming part of a shared environment shaped by experimentation and collaboration.
Stylus brings together projection, street art and live performance, using the interaction between media to explore how surfaces can be redefined through time, light and intervention.
