WORK

Fallen From the Same Tree is an audio-visual installation created by Urban Projections and sound artist CJ Mirra, in collaboration with students from Magnus Church of England Academy.

This immersive project celebrates our deep connection with ancient British woodlands - places that sustain wildlife, clean the air, and hold generations of stories. These forests are more than ecosystems; they’re woven into our culture, carrying folklore and a history of shared care. By protecting them, we continue this relationship with the natural world.

The project grew from a collaborative process with the students. It began outdoors, where they explored local woodlands, recording the forest’s subtle sounds - birdsong, rustling leaves, and the quiet murmur of trees. These recordings became the foundation for the project’s rich audio soundtrack.

Back in the studio, students composed musical pieces inspired by their woodland experiences, capturing the peace, vitality, and ancient rhythms of the forest. They also worked with Urban Projections to craft visuals using dynamic lighting fixtures. By shaping volumetric light and treating light as an architectural element, they transformed the space into a living environment that echoed the forest’s energy and movement.

The final installation blends sound and light into an interactive experience. It invites visitors to pause, feel, and reconnect with the beauty and mystery of British woodlands - and to reflect on our role in caring for them.
