WORK
Fluorescencia is a collaborative project bringing together Urban Projections (Rebecca Smith), Felipe Pantone and Selina Miles, developed during a residency in Paramaribo as part of the Switi Rauw.
Over three days, the group worked across the city to produce a series of large-scale murals, combining painting with projected light. Each surface was activated after dark, with projection mapping used to extend the painted work into moving image, transforming static walls into evolving compositions of colour and light.
The process was shaped by working quickly and with limited resources, responding directly to the surrounding environment. Painted forms, geometric structures and colour fields were developed in parallel with projection content, allowing both elements to influence one another.
Filmmaker Selina Miles documented the project throughout, capturing the making process and the interaction between disciplines, from initial painting through to the final night-time interventions.
Fluorescencia brings together mural, film and projection as a site-responsive approach, using light to shift how painted surfaces are seen and experienced within the city.
