The Voyage of the

Story Shell

Long ago, the Story Shell drifted across faraway seas, collecting tales as it travelled. One winter night in Barnsley, it began to glow. Colours rippled across its surface, drawings sprang to life and a soft song rose from within.

Families gathered as the six metre Shell lit up like a giant storybook. Waves, creatures and clues to its journey shimmered across its sides. Stepping inside felt like entering the heart of a real seashell, where the Shell whispered the tale of how it finally arrived in Barnsley.

Children from St Mary’s C of E Primary School helped shape its story, filling the Shell with their characters, ideas and songs. Look closely and you’ll spot their imaginations shining through every animation.

The Voyage of the Story Shell invites children and families to explore, listen and imagine together.

The Journey of the Story Shell was created by The Colour Foundry, with students from St Mary's C of E Primary School
